The next day we continued northwards, following the eastern seaboard of Sweden, refuelling at Umea (ESNU) and then on into Finland, dodging storm cells, to land at Father Christmas's very own airport of Rovaniemi or EFRO as it appears on the reindeer flight plans.

Am nächsten Tag weiter nordwärts, an der Ostküste Schwedens entlang; Tankstopp in Umea, (ESNU), Einflug nach Finnland, erster Kontakt mit einigen Gewitterzellen und Landung auf dem „Santa Claus Airport" Rovaniemi oder EFRO in der Fliegersprache.

Auf dem Polarkreis angekommen, ist festzuhalten, dass es eigentlich an diesem Abend unentwegt gegossen hat, und wie schwierig es war, Unterkunft zu finden.

Am nächsten Morgen sah es erfreulich besser aus, und während die eine Hälfte der Gruppe den nicht gerade vielversprechenden Wetterbericht studierte und sich durch die Flugplanung kämpfte, fuhr die andere Hälfte zum Polarkreis hinaus und hatte für kurze Zeit hüpfend auf dem Polarkreis-Touristenspaß.

Situated on the Arctic Circle, I shall remember Rovaniemi for the torrential rain we endured that evening and the difficulty of finding accommodation.

It was more cheerful the next morning, and while some of us studied the unfavourable weather forecast and struggled to file our flight plans, the rest of the group played tourist and went to stand on the magic circle itself.
