From Jämijärvi (Finland) to Tallinn (Estonia) |
Sunday, 17th Jämijärvi to Turku and Tallinn, Estonia. 177 miles. We decided to move on today as the weather was deteriorating and some fronts were forecast coming from the south. A quick stop in Turku to clear emigration, then on to Tallinn. I had spent a few hours in Tallinn on a Baltic cruise in May and had fallen love with it. Yes it is becoming very touristy but prices are still reasonable, and after the cruise ships leave the streets are not crowded. |

This is where we achieved our second objective, to make Nigel regret his decision to fly in the USA instead of joining us. Oh!!! those Blond Maidens, we had to hold Peter & André back on so many occasions. |
We did the usual tourist things, walked a lot, had some good food, some very slow service in a Greek restaurant, serves us right for not going for local fare, and drank some decent wine and vodka. |

Tallinn (historically known by the German and Swedish name Reval, among other names) is the capital and largest city of Estonia. It lies on the northern coast of Estonia, along the Gulf of Finland. The city is an important industrial, political and cultural center, and seaport. |
