On Saturday we have been safe back from a big cross country. Since I have received calls and SMS to tell about this unusal trip, this is the very very short version for those who are interested in our wonderful Northcap flying expedition:

Aircraft - if you don't know: AA5 B, 3 blade. Backseats removed for all the luggage (we did not need the tents!). Nav: AA5 Standard+ Garmin 430 (with AP connection), + Flymap L with weather radar data (only in Germany/DWD coverage ).

Emergency: Jackets, dinghy and ACR Emergency transmitter (both bought for this trip); mobile Radio

Crew: Jörg Trauboth/Peter Pfeiffer. Peter, the first time in the cockpit, flew and landed the aircraft after a while safely, made the whole logistics and was a great assistance and a wonderful fellow, as allways in our 12 years of friendship.

Routing: Bonn Hangelar-Heringsdorf (Usedom), Gdansk (Poland), Vilnius ( Lithuania), Riga (Letavia), Tallinn (Estonia), Turku, Jamiväri, Rovaniemi (Finnland), Hammerfest via Northcap, Tromsö, Bodö, Trondheim, Oslo (Norway), Goteborg (Sweden), Aarhus via Greena, Sonderborg (Denmark), Bonn (via Helgoland).
Records: 33:38 h in 12 days, about 3400 NM, 9 countries, 13 hotels. Most trips below 3 hours, only on one day 2 trips.

Aircraft: No problems, the EDDO obviously likes the colder areas more than the Mediteranian.

Weather: first week up to Jämi excellent VFR flying weather. Second week much "VIFR", low clouds, heavy rain, this was the reason for our short trips and ecape routes after Oslo.

Biggest positive impressions:
1. Gdansk - what a clean Hanse Stadt city!
2. Tallinn what a pretty old town full of tourists and our very low sea low level from Estonia to Finland
3. The wonderful time with our friends Hannu and Kaisa in Turku and in their finnish landhome and sauna.
4. The Jämi get together with the André and the Brian Crew and the finnish collegues including the Ilari family and their dog Tosca. Hopefully the both Grummans with opposite direction to the Baltics are safe back and enjoyed the trip and our recommendations!
5. The Northkap landscape appearance after penetration from 8000 ft down to 1500 ft through the clouds.
6. Hammerfest airfield (carrier landing feeling).
7. The navigation through the Norwegian fjords with incredibel colours.
8. Sitting in the 33 floor of the Oslo SAS Radisson restaurant in the centrum of a thunderstorm with heavy rain (and a good red wine)
9. The evening with young pilot Dr. Jan Lindholt and his wife Anne Greta in their Greena Finca (24 ha) and the sudden appearance of Peter Wendelboe.
10. The last trip from Sonderborg to Bonn via Helgoland.

Negative: none.
We are happy to be safe back.

Greetings from Jörg + Peter with all or good wishes for you, in the air and on the ground
