A 24h notice for customs was needed, for that reason we had decided the day before we would fly to a not so well know grass field LKOL (Olomouc) situated to the north east of Brno. The weather on the direct and rather hilly route seemed not to be very nice, we opted to fly across Austria and then abeam Brno northbound. On this route the weather proved to be gray but very quiet with excellent visibility.

Zoll erforderte 24h Anmeldung, daher hatten wir schon am Vortage entschieden zu einem weniger bekannten Grasplatz LKOL (Olomouc) nordöstlich von BRNO zu fliegen.Die geplante Flugroute ging direkt und über bergiges Land; das Wetter schien dort weniger schön zu werden. Wir entschieden wir uns über Österreich zu fliegen und dann querab Brno nach Norden. Das Wetter war hier grau, aber ruhig und mit hervorragenden Sichten.

As we crossed the Czech FIR temperatures rocketed again although things in the cockpit remained rather cool since the Czech controllers were extremely helpful in guiding us clear of any active zones.

Understanding Olomouc tower's English proved to be the most difficult part of this leg, but we all got the important numbers right and landed uphill with a tailwind. It took some time for the necessary customs-paperwork but everyone was friendly and pleased to help.

Mit Einflug in die tschechische FIR stiegen die Temperaturen wieder an. Nur im Cockpit blieben wir „cool" da uns die freundlichen Controller beim umfliegen der aktiven Sperrgebiete sehr behilflich waren.
Als das Schwierigste dieses Teilstückes stellte sich das Verstehen des Englisch vom Tower in Olomouc heraus. Aber alle verstanden die wichtigsten Zahlen richtig und so landeten wir bergauf mit einem leichten Rückenwind. Die Zollabwicklung benötigte etwas Zeit aber alle waren freundlich und hilfsbereit.

We headed to the nearest beer garden (again!) to prevent our bodies from dehydrating, by the way a ½ liter beer was only 0.30€ extremely cheap. Plans were made for the next day leg.

In the evening we even got a driver and airport minibus to take us to a nice restaurant and back to our tents afterwards.

Natürlich ging es nun direkt zum nächsten Biergarten um die Dehydration unserer Körper zu stoppen. Das Bier war mit € 0,30 je halber Liter sehr preiswert und es wurden Pläne für das nächste Teilstück gemacht. Abernds bekamen wir sogar einen Fahrer und den Flugplatz Minibus um uns zu einem Restaurant und danach zurück zu unseren Zelten zu fahren.
