From Dahlemer Binz (Germany) to Oberschleisheim (Germany)

On Sunday the 22/06 we were expected in EDNX (Oberschleissheim) the oldest still active airfield in Germany situated close to the Munich CTR and PPR. There Peter Romeikat assisted by none other than Ed grumpy Ee-Zee from California were waiting for us.

Am Sonntag den 22.6.03 wurden wir in EDNX (Oberschleissheim) erwartet, dem ältesten - noch aktiven - Flugplatz in Deutschland, quasi direkt am nördlichen Stadtrand von München. Leider darf man dort nur nach Voranmeldung und in Ausnahmefällen landen, sofern man nicht am Platz beheimatet ist. Diese Genehmigung besorgte uns unser Münchner Grumpy: Peter Romeikat, unterstützt durch keinen Geringeren als Ed, Grumpy Ee-Zee (easy) aus Kalifornien. Die beiden erwarteten uns schon

Although we left fairly early in EDKV we all had a good demonstration of the density altitude effect, taking off at a 1896ft elev. and at a temperature already close to 30°C climb was nothing to write home about but we all got up there to enjoy the beautiful German country side, first crossing the Mosel, then the Rhein, skirting the Frankfurt zones and finally a nice view of Munich upon landing at Oberschleissheim.

Timing was absolutely Grumpy- perfect!. All Grumpies landed within a few minutes of each other even G-MALC (Brian & John) who joined us directly from EBKT (Kortrijk) where they had stayed overnight

Das Timing war wie immer: Grumpy-perfekt! Alle landeten innerhalb weniger Minuten, selbst G-MALC (Brian & John) die uns aus EBKT (Kortrijk) nachgekommen waren, wo sie die Nacht verbracht hatten.

Our host Peter and his lovely wife Vilja, Ed and even Peter's neighbours really took absolutely good care of us! They arranged transportation to their home, food, drinks, beds or mattresses, breakfast, more fluids…lots and lots. Some suggested the idea of staying there but duty was calling!

Peter und seine liebevolle Frau Vilja waren unsere Gastgeber. Die beiden, zusammen mit Ed und auch Peters Nachbarn, haben sich wirklich nett um uns gekümmert. Sie arrangierten unseren Transport zu sich nach Hause, kümmerten sich um Essen, Trinken, Betten oder Matratzen, noch mehr Getränke, noch viel mehr Getränke.....

During our two days stay, Peter took us by train into Munchen city for a visit, again timing was perfect: we were just in time to see "das Glockenspiel" at noon and the "Fiktualien markt ", a market renowned for all it's exotic and quality food and…..

Während unserer zwei Tage dort fuhren wir mit Peter und dem Zug nach München in die Innenstadt, wobei das Timing abermals perfekt ausfiel: wir kamen gerade rechtzeitig um das Glockenspiel am Mittag zu hören und sahen auch den Viktualienmarkt.......
