From Sarmalek (Hungary) to Portoroz (Slovenia)

Danny report:

The next day 28/06 we followed the others only to find them gone again.…never mind we did enjoy our stay at Portoroz, we even had the opportunity to visit the world famous Postojnska caves.

Nigel report:

Danny & Johannes, together with Klause & friend bid us a fond farewell as we set off to Slovenia and the airport of Portoroz (LJPZ). It was a place we had visited and liked during our 2001 adventures (GUST-RAC) and were keen to become reacquainted. Our route to the Adriatic coastal town of Portoroz was via Maribor and Ljubljana and we found the air traffic controllers to be very helpful and thankfully easy to understand! Initially the landscape was plain and flat but slowly turned mountainous and rather spectacular. Weather was marvellous. On arrival we were greeted with the traditional glass of slivovitz liquor by the airport authorities and then a hasty retreat to the local hotel and its swimming pool.

It was the same hotel as we had used two years previously and they remembered us! The only thing that had changed was that the landlady's son had grown bigger and her husband had been excommunicated! She even presented us with a huge platter of langoustines and some fish - very yummy. We had hoped to spend two days at the hotel but some Austrian tourists had rudely booked rooms before us and we had to go.
