I went to Stavanger to meet an old friend for lunch whilst the remaining Grumpies went to Kristiansand for their culinary intake.

Later in the day we all regrouped at the delightful field of Stord, on the west coast of Norway.

This field was one of the finds of the trip. ATC were extremely helpful, arranged for us to use the local

flying club building, called the local press, drove us to the town and back, and allowed us to camp on the airfield.

During our stay, some of us took the opportunity to venture further north for the day to visit the airfield of Floro, about 70 nm north of Bergen, and do some sightseeing.

Our return allowed us to climb up to and over the Folgefonni glacier at 5,400 feet and then descend steeply down into the sheer-sided Skanevikfjord, a truly wondrous sight, provided one avoids the power cables stretched across the fjord!

Having seen that we'd made front page news in the early morning editions of the local newspaper, we made our sad farewells to Stord ATC. At the same time the Grumpy Two mob had to return to England and Grumpy Three went back to Denmark to revisit Stagsted.

The rest of us undertook a wonderful flight across Norway, over staggeringly beautiful scenery, into Sweden.
