For our friends coming from the US, we suggest you fly Delta Airlines  non-stop from JFK into Pisa  (cheap fares can be found on the Delta website). Other combinations via Rome/Milan/Paris/London etc. are possible, maybe a bit more convenient, certainly longer strolling around horrible hubs and with a fair chance to arrive without toothbrush and other paraphernalia.

Again for extended stays, we also suggest you  to rent a car. The smallest class is more than excellent for our roads and parkings and for sure you can negotiate via AYA cheap rates with global rent companies, all present at Pisa airport.

Florence, Pisa, Volterra, Lucca, S. Gimignano, Siena,  etc. are  within 1,5 hrs drive so touchbase at Valdera!

FIRST NOTICE OF THE PISA FLYING CLUB

ON THE AYA REGION 15 (EUROPE) ANNUAL FLY IN 2009

AT VALDERA / ITALY  (May, 29 - 31)

Valdera airfield is named after the region (a large valley) around the ERA river thence the name (Val d'Era) and is located around 20 miles SE from Pisa airport. This area was populated some 3000 (yes three thousand) years ago by the real  Italian ancestors, the Etruscs,  who, the initiators of encrypting, where communicating with a particular language and writing which is  still unveiled (this is the reason why our English is just somewhat better...)

Valdera is the location of the Pisa Flying Club (see www.aeroclubpisa.it) where over 200 members are flying on the most improbable equipment (from glass cockpit to selfmades, to gyrocopters, to antiques etc) and are proud to organise the second AYA event in their history!

As from July 11, our lovely suited airfield (grass-strip) is published in the Jeppesen Bottlang Manual (19-1, 19-2) and since few months we have installed an automatic weather station which tells you (H24) the local conditions, provided you call 0039 3333330049.

Like during past event, we will accommodate our guests in nearby hotel/resorts; but if you plan to stay longer, please, let us know asap as these most requested lodgings are booked a year in advance!
