26 /11/2006 Dear friends Many are planning already the schedule for next year, so I have made the preparations for our AYA fly in's. My idea was to spread these events across Europe. These are the dates for your calendar 2007, details will follow: 21 April Belgium: EBZW Genk/Zwartberg. André as our Belgium, Netherlands Area Coordinator has offered to arrange that fly in. Genk/Zwartberg is located in the middle of western Europe, near the German and Dutch border and one of the most attractive aerodromes of Belgium, it was founded in 1957. Have a look at their website http://users.pandora.be/ebzw/ and the webcam view of the field. 08.-10 June United Kingdom - Annual AYA Europe fly in Northweald (EGSX). This will be organized under the leadership of Walter Gibson. I have been last year in North Weald to see the Air Britain http://www.air-britain.com/ . I can only say: A wonderful airfield, full of history, with typical RAF shelters, a long asphalt runway, near London, near Cambridge and a wonderful couple, Walter and Anita. I hope very much that the crew around him will support him on this task to manage the (hopefully at least 50) airplanes and crews from all over Europe over 3 challenging days and 2 nights 14. -16 September Spain / Majorca / Son Bonet (LESB). The idea was born in the Bielefeld Fly In and was much appreciated. Since I know the island quite well and have been many times there with my Tiger I will look for a central meeting point and give support for routing, transport and hotel. There is an upcoming discussion for a extended flying tour which is basically a good idea. I would, however, recommend to organize this individually and would not organize that part as an AYA tour. Personally I am thinking about a tour to Marocco / Casablanca the week before, hoping very much that Henri Faivre will assist. 27 October Germany, Rinteln (EDVR). This is the homebase of Wolfgang Rieber and his wife Helga situated between Bielefeld and Hanover in a lovely landscape. Wolfgang is thinking about a trip to a German North Sea island,on Sunday for all those people who want to stay longer. Weather alternate is Bonn Hangelar (EDKB) - Germany. Not Europe but a target: 25.-29 June USA AYA Glenns Falls (KGFL). For those who do not know what AYA conventions are, just check the www.aya.org or speak with Ni or André. There are wonderful Grummans to see, flying events, seminars and social events to take part. Our new President Nigel Thomas will run his first convention and we should support this lonely British person at strange territory. I would wish that some of you would have the opportunity to join, as I will do. I am sure that several other events will come up as traditionally organized by the British connection and every two years by our fiends in Grimbergen (EBGB). Especially I would appreciate if an event could be organized in and by our Scandinavian friends, and our friends from Poland, France and Italy. The main source for our friendship are the fly in's. I am nothing more than a coordinator with a big title and no assistance but of a wonderful club of pilots and Grumman enthusiasts - always depending on your assistance to the benefit of all. Let me know if you have any other ideas or suggestions. Best regards + fly safely Jörg H. Trauboth - jorg 2 dots-- AYA Director European Region--europe@aya.org -- D-EDDO |
