This precision landing competition was won by Clive Butler's AA5B G-ZERO, with the very appropriate error of ZERO metres. Second, just 4 metres away from the spot, was our Top Cat, Evert Schraverus, in his new AA5A, N321ES, and third, with a 10-metre error, was Nigel Thomas in his AA1, G-BFOJ. The growing number of active AYA members in Germany now have their own Area Coordinator, Tony Steidi from Neuwied, near Cologne, who was appointed during this fly-in. Nobody from Denmark or Norway volunteered to take over a similar job looking after members in Scandinavia, another active AYA area of Europe. Evert Schraverus would like to hear from anyone interested in helping there. lan Matterface agreed to continue his good work as Area Coordinator for the British Isles. |

The 1994 AYA European Fly-In has been tentatively arranged to take place somewhere in Germany, possibly in the Regensburg area and probably in May or June next year. If it turns out to be as enjoyable as this Dutch treat, it will be an event well worth flying a long way to attend. (Irish members please note: Straubing Aerodrome near Regensburg is just 850 nm as the AA1B flies, from Galway, but maybe if we get a new AYA member to fly in from Spain or Greece in 1994 he or she might just beat you for the long-distance prize!)
