Amerikanske fly over Tirstrup

TIRSTRUP - En snes Amerikanske en-motorsfly dominerede Tirstrup Lufthavn i week­enden.

De små fly af typen Grumman hører alle hjemme i foreningen AYA, American Yankee Association. Nogle har taget flyveturen helt fra USA(*) for at deltage i forenin­gens årlige arrangement, som går på skift rundt i Europa eller i Grummans hjemland.I snit to personer per fly landede i Tirstrup, hvorfra e 20 flyvemaskiner senere fløj et smut til øen Endelave for Horsens Fjord for at spise et måltid mad. Flyvemaskinerne stod også linet op, mens medlem­merne kørte rundt på Djurs­land for at se på landet, og der var også tid til et besøg på museet i GI. Estrup.

Tirstrup is also the place where I met my friend Jens Neergaard (alias Grumpy Farm) for the first time. For more then 17 years now (2007) I have the pleasure of landing OO-GAZ (one or twice a year) on his private airstrip at Stagsted (N.E. of Aalborg) where a bed is always waiting for me.

After the many hours spent together over North Jutland and at the flying club in Sæby, each time I have enjoyed the culinary specialities prepared by his lovely wife Anette and mother Grethe.
The little girl in the middle is my youngest daughter.... she become 25 in 2007.
